The Story of Easter Island
The population of Easter Island reached is peak at more than 10,000 which exceeded the islands natural resource capabilities. As resources became scarce, and forests were destroyed – cleared for agriculture and moving the massive stone structures still present on the island. In this regard, Easter Island became a metaphor for ecological disaster. By over use and destruction of natural resources chaos reined, famine and civil war erupted totally depleting the islands natural resources.
